Our next assignment asks us to produce a podcast, completing a few steps along the way: proposal, research, outline, script, and fully recorded and produced podcast. Our work on the project will also entail experimenting with and using AI to see how it might help in this process.
The first step will be writing a project proposal (500 words, submitted via email). We have a lot of flexibility in choosing a topic for the podcast. For our purposes, “podcast” means a 7-10 minute recording primarily of you speaking, although you can potentially incorporate other voices or recordings, background music, etc.
For the topic, you should choose something that interests you and that you can say something interesting about within 7-10 minutes (about 3-5 pages of writing). I would encourage you to do something lighter and fun, perhaps a personal interest you don’t get to explore in school.
Your proposal should address the following prompts and questions:
- What topic will your podcast explore? What do you want to say about this topic?
- You will probably only have time a focus on a specific aspect of a larger topic. What aspect of the topic will you focus on? What specific point do you want to make or explore?
- Why does this topic matter? What do you hope people will get out of your podcast?
